1st Washington Open Baduk Championship

With a top prize of $1200, and cash prizes for every section, this one is not to be missed! Sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Cultural Center-DC, and Scorpion Sport Inc. in L.A. It is co-hosted by the Korean Amateur Baduk Association (KABA) and the AGA, and organized by the NOVA Go Club, the Baltimore Go Club, and the Korean-American Go Association (KAGA)
Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27 April. Players should arrive by 8:45 am on Saturday, to verify their registration. The first round starts at 9:30 am each day. The Championship will be an AGA rated five round, one hour/player event. Three rounds on Saturday, and two rounds on Sunday.
Professionals: Myungwan Kim, 9P, and Sohyun Park, 3P, will attend.
Saturday night will feature Dan and Kyu lectures from 7:30-8:30, and a rapid game tournament from 8:30-11 pm.
Sunday features game reviews from 3:30-4:30, simuls for Dans and Kyus from 4:30-6, and prize awards and closing remarks from 6-6:45.
A packed weekend of competition and fun for all.
Event located in Northern Virginia near Tysons Corner (just off I-495, exit West on Route 7 and then South on Gallows Road).
Lodging: There are many hotels near KUSCO. However, we have negotiated an excellent rate with Extended Stay America, 8281 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, Fairfax VA 22031. It is 4.5 miles South of KUSCO just off Gallows Road, a seven minute drive. Newly renovated and reopened about one month ago. We have a block of 30 rooms available.
